Privacy policy
Last updated: August 2026
This policy describes what personal information Second Fin collects and how we use it. Placeholder legal copy — to be reviewed by counsel before launch.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the studio:
- Donation inquiries — your name, email, optional phone number, general location, and details about your board.
- Contact messages — your name, email, and the message you send.
- Purchases — your email and fulfillment details; payment card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and never touch our servers.
- Sign-in — if you sign in (studio staff), your email and basic profile from Google or a magic-link email.
How we use it
We use your information to respond to inquiries, arrange board drop-offs and pickups, fulfill orders, and send the transactional emails those activities require (confirmations, sign-in links, replies).
If you consent on the donation form, we may share your board's story — first name and hometown level, never contact details — as part of the finished piece. Without that consent, boards stay anonymous.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we don't send marketing email without asking first.
Who we share it with
Your data is shared only with the service providers that operate the site: our hosting provider, database host, email delivery provider (Resend), and payment processor (Stripe) for purchases. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Retention
Donation and order records are kept as long as needed for studio operations, accounting, and the story of the piece itself. Contact messages are kept in our inbox and deleted when no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your personal information at any time (see below); we'll honor it except where records are legally required.
Cookies
Public pages don't use tracking or advertising cookies. Signing in sets a session cookie strictly required for authentication.
Your choices
Email hello@secondfin.co to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to withdraw story consent for a donated board that hasn't been finished yet.
Changes
We'll post any changes to this policy here with an updated date.
